Stages:
Day 1: Sunnegga – Täschhütte
Täschhütte has a long-standing history. Since 1945, mountain guides and alpinists have shaped life around the hut. Tales of first ascents and legendary tours make this place special. Nostalgia meets alpine tradition here.
Route Description
- Ascent from Sunnegga station (2’288 m) via Tufternalp to Täsch Hut at 2’701 m
- Elevation change: +764 m / -350 m
- Distance: 11 km
Getting to Sunnegga Station from Zermatt:
- On foot from Zermatt: 686 m ascent, 1.5–2 hours
- By Sunnegga funicular: Direct connection from Zermatt in just a few minutes (see schedule)
Day 2: Täschhütte – Mountain Lodge Ze Seewjinu
Mountain Lodge Ze Seewjinu lies at 2’300 m above sea level between Gornergrat and Rothorn, right in the ski area above Zermatt. In summer, it's a starting point for hikers and bikers, in winter, ideally located for ski-in/ski-out. Guests can expect simple rooms with views, homemade food, and warm alpine hospitality.

- Ascent over Pfulwe to Grindjesee and Grünsee, then to Mountain Lodge Ze Seewjinu at 2’300 m
- Elevation change: +800 m / -1’206 m

Day 3: Mountain Lodge Ze Seewjinu – Monte Rosa Hut
Monte Rosa Hut sits at 2’883 m above the Gorner Glacier – a modern, crystal-like structure that is over 90% energy self-sufficient. Rebuilt in 2009, it accommodates up to 120 guests and serves as a base for alpine tours in the Monte Rosa massif.
Route Description
- Ascent to Gornergrat Lake, via Rotenboden, and glacier trekking across the massive Gorner Glacier to Monte Rosa Hut (2’883 m)
- Elevation change: +1’197 m / -594 m
- Distance: 14 km
Day 4: Monte Rosa Hut – Zermatt
Descent back to Zermatt (1’620 m)
Route Description
- Glacier trekking across the mighty Gorner Glacier, then via Rotenboden, Riffelsee, Dossen, and the Furi suspension bridge back to Zermatt
- Elevation change: +507 m / -1’781 m
- Distance: 17.8 km
