Ski tours, freeriding and heliskiing in Zermatt

Whether it’s the tranquillity of nature or the feeling of freedom skiing downhill through powder snow, ski tours have a special appeal. However, there are some rules to observe.

The Zermatt – Matterhorn destination offers a wide range of ski tours. These include tours over glaciers or combined tours, where you store your skis at the ski depot and climb the rest of the route.

The tours all have one thing in common – the reward at the end of the ascent. Down pristine slopes through the powder snow, back into the valley – accompanied by a feeling of freedom.

To help everyone have the best possible adventure, there are some rules to observe:

• Always make sure you have a mountain guide by your side the whole way
• Stay up-to-date with the weather and avalanche status: Snow Report. You can find out more from the Swiss avalanche bulletin (www.slf.ch)
• Always maintain visual contact with the people you are with.
• Tackle key sections and extremely steep slopes individually
• Never ski in a wildlife protection zone (this will result in a fine)
• Always switch the avalanche transceiver to transmit mode
• Always carry a shovel and probe with you
• Be aware of the time of day when the weather warms up and constantly reassess the conditions
• “Be searchable”. Equip yourself with an additional reflector from Recco. Whether it’s summer or winter. Available at the counter. This additional reflector does not replace an avalanche transceiver.
