During the ascent, you travel along the border between Switzerland and Italy. The enjoyable descent leads between glacier crevasses and séracs down to Zermatt.
From the Klein Matterhorn, the route first runs flat over the Breithorn Plateau and along the Breithorn, where you approach the two 4,000-meter twins Castor and Pollux. Then you reach the Schwarztor, the gap between Roccia Nera (eastern end of the Breithorn) and Pollux. Now the route takers face a long powder snow descent through a labyrinth of impressive glacier crevasses and séracs down to the Gorner Glacier and further to Zermatt.
