Description

This demanding route into the peace of nature compensates with breathtaking views of the village and the many four-thousanders. The glacier at Platthorn and Mettelhorn has retreated considerably. Caution is advised here: the hiking trail to the summit of the Mettelhorn crosses a part of the glacier. Appropriate equipment (crampons or spikes – depending on the state of the glacier) is absolutely necessary.

In the upper part of the Triftchumme, below the Furgghorn (3,392 m), the "Böse Tschuggen" gape. Tschuggen means rocks in the local dialect. Names of areas have their reasons.

  • Information at the Trift mountain inn: inquire about the danger situation!
  • Nearby: Adlerhorst
  • Rich wildlife area with chamois
