Meet the cuddly Blacknose sheep while you hike on the Gornergrat and experience something you just won’t find anywhere else: every summer from July to September, around 125 Blacknose sheep spend their time on the lush meadows of the Gornergrat area, high above Zermatt with impressive views of the Matterhorn. Their characteristic black noses, spiral-shaped horns and the soft, fluffy coat make these animals a highlight for locals and tourists alike.
The sheep like to spend time in the shade as their thick coat quickly becomes too warm in the sun. Thanks to GPS technology, you can easily locate the Blacknose sheep every summer from July to September between 9 am and 4 pm and meet them on your hike. This allows you to experience the fascinating animals in their natural habitat.
