Description
Jalen Ngonda sets hearts fluttering the moment he plays. Regarded as a shooting star in the soul sky, he's a mighty talent with a fascinating voice. In 2023, the musician released his debut album Come Around and Love Me on Daptone Records, a small New York-based indie label renowned for its authentic 60s sound that also saw Amy Winehouse record her "Back to Black" album at its studio. Nevertheless, Jalen refuses to be pigeonholed as a retro artist: modern soul and RnB are his styles. Even then, he names a whole spectrum of influences, ranging from The Beach Boys to The Beatles, and he was also clearly informed by his father's collection of Motown records too. Jalen has already taken to the stage with the likes of Lauryn Hill and Martha Reeves – he certainly grabs the attention of some real big-hitters.
