Heartfelt warmth, hospitality, stunning views of the Matterhorn and simply some time, just for yourself – that’s Chez Vrony. With a vibrant history, this restaurant at 2100 metres altitude has embodied a family tradition for over 100 years.
Chez Vrony is one of the few restaurants that still uses its own organic products, made from animals nourished solely on Alpine grass. The dry-cured meat, the homemade sausage and Alpine cheese are all made to traditional recipes that – like the restaurant – have been passed down from generation to generation. The transformation of a small, spartan farmhouse in the high Alps into Chez Vrony is more than just a story. It also encapsulates the history of the past 100 years, chronicling the fortunes of the Julen family, life in Findeln, and Zermatt’s meteoric rise from remote mountain village to world famous tourist destination.
Vrony with Max and her team are the perfect hosts, brimming with genuine warmth and emotion. Vrony has literally inherited her sense of hospitality. Very early on, it became clear she loved the profession. Already as a child she was keen to help out in the family business and was always obliging and eager to please the guests. And that’s still the case today. In fact, if you ask her about it, she’ll say: “What could be nicer than wanting to share this beautiful place with our guests and enjoying a few hours of happiness together? This is where friendships are forged, where we share those special moments in life.”
