Access routes
  • Starting at 2:30 PM, the first trains will resume hourly service on the Visp – (Täsch) – Zermatt route toward Täsch/Visp. Due to limited capacity, waiting times and subsequent delays are to be expected. Please allow extra time for your journey. The Täsch–Zermatt shuttle will operate according to schedule starting at 2:35 PM. The reduced replacement rail service between Täsch and Visp will continue until normal operations resume.
  • ZERMATT WILL BE ACCESSIBLE BY TRAIN AGAIN FROM 2:30 PM.
  • The road from Visp to Täsch is open. The road from Täsch to Zermatt remains closed.
  • Guests are kindly asked to remain in their accommodations and not come to the train station.
  • Helicopter flights are being conducted exclusively for safety purposes.
On site
  • Hiking trails remain closed for now. A limited offering is being prepared and will be gradually reopened. Openings will be announced throughout the day. The trails from Sunnegga – Findeln (and back) up to Eya are open along the ski run. Furi – Blatten/Zum See is being prepared. Zermatt – Blatten – Zum See – Zermatt is open.

Access routes
  • The route Visp – (Täsch) – Zermatt is expected to remain closed until early Saturday afternoon. Currently, there is no travel possible to or from Zermatt due to ongoing clearing and safety work. Starting at 10:30 AM, limited replacement bus service will operate between Visp and Täsch. The next update will be provided today at 12:15 PM.
  • ZERMATT IS NOT ACCESSIBLE
  • Guests are kindly asked to remain in their accommodations and not to go to the train station.
  • Helicopter flights are being conducted exclusively for safety purposes.
On site
  • Hiking trails remain closed, though a limited offering is currently being prepared. Openings will be communicated during the day. The Sunegga–Findeln hiking trail (and back) to Eya is open along the piste.

  • The railway line Visp (Täsch) - Zermatt remains interrupted. It is currently not possible to travel to Zermatt. The railway line will remain closed until at least midday. Next information: Today Saturday at 10.15 am. The avalanche blasting and clearing work is still underway.
  • ZERMATT IS NOT ACCESSIBLE.
  • Helicopter flights are being carried out for safety purposes only.
Electricity
  • The local energy supplier EWZ and HYDRO Exploitation have managed to put the 130kW Grande Dixence line into operation. Zermatt now has electricity again!
On site
  • Reduced winter hiking trail offer is in preparation. For safety reasons, this will only be possible to a very limited extent. There is still great danger. Please follow the instructions. New situation assessment will follow in the course of the day.
  • Zermatt Bergbahnen AG will open parts of the Sunegga-Rothorn area from 10.00 a.m. today. Gornergrat and the Klein Matterhorn area will remain closed today.

Due to the favourable weather conditions and the great efforts of the road master and his team, it has been possible to temporarily open the Täsch-Zermatt road. The Täsch-Zermatt road is now open to traffic for a limited period of time until 10.00 a.m. today for logistical supplies (access and exit for locals, food supplies, trade, etc.). No tourist transport is possible during this time. After this time, the road must be closed again until 7.00 pm due to the risk of avalanches caused by the warming of the day. A new assessment of the situation for railway traffic will follow today at 10.00 am.

Access routes
  • The Visp (Täsch) - Zermatt railway line is expected to remain interrupted until midday tomorrow (Saturday). It is currently not possible to travel to Zermatt. Next information: Tomorrow Saturday at 10.00 am. Avalanche blasting and clearing work is underway.
  • Access on the Täsch - Zermatt road remains closed. Please refrain from travelling to the Mattertal until tomorrow Saturday. Avalanche blasting and clearing work is in progress. The Stalden - TÄSCH road opens today (Friday) exclusively for regional traffic (stranded guests, locals, supplies, food) and NOT for tourist arrivals, as there is still no accommodation or electricity available in the entire Mattertal. ZERMATT IS NOT ACCESSIBLE.
  • Helicopter flights are only carried out for safety purposes.
Electricity
  • The island operation with the neighbourhood connection within the village area is in progress.
  • The electricity supply will remain interrupted until further notice. Hydro Exploitation and EWZ are working at full speed. Valgrid's main lines in the Mattertal and Saas Valley are interrupted until further notice. An update will be communicated as soon as possible.
On site
  • All winter hiking trails are still closed. There is great danger. Follow the instructions. New situation assessment tomorrow morning.
  • The opening of the ski area tomorrow Saturday depends on the power situation. If the current situation allows, the Sunnegga-Rothorn area will open, the Gornergrat and Matterhorn Glacier Paradise areas will remain closed.
Service
  • Migros, Coop and Denner are open according to opening hours. Migros and Denner have a reduced offer.
  • Mobile phones can be charged in the Triftbachhalle until 8.00 pm. Please bring your own battery-powered device.
  • Food will be served again tonight between 18.00 - 20.00 in the Triftbachhalle.
  • The ATMs in Migros and Denner are in operation.
  • The Zermatt Tourism Infopoint will be open tomorrow from 8.00 am. The Infopoint of the municipality is open 24 hours a day.
  • The regional police, reinforced by the cantonal police, will be patrolling throughout the night.
