Discover the “Golden Spot” on the Gornergrat! The historic locomotive 3003, one of Gornergrat Railway’s first locomotives, was restored and gilded in shiny gold. It sits majestically on the Gornergrat and provides the perfect setting for an unforgettable photo with the Matterhorn in the background. A themed trail leading to the Golden Spot tells the story of this pioneering achievement. The photopoint is open all year round and is free of charge.

The lake of the Riffelsee (2,757 m) offers the ultimate in mountain tranquillity. The reflection of the Matterhorn on the surface of the water is one of nature’s finest spectacles.

The Stellisee (2,537 m) is among the most famous of Zermatt’s lakes. The sight of the Matterhorn reflected on its mirror-like surface is breathtakingly beautiful, and is made for magnificent photographs.
