The English Church St Peter’s is an important part of Zermatt’s history and traditions. It is closely linked to the British visitors who were among the first to want to see and experience the Matterhorn.
Blatten chapel stands on a small rise, on the “Blatten" – a rock ledge in the eponymous hamlet below Furi, at an altitude of 1,740 m. This chapel is one of the best known in Zermatt, and is clearly visible from the gondolas of the Matterhorn Express.
The simple, small prayer house at Trift above Zermatt lies at 2,340 m by the Hotel du Trift. It reflects the religious conviction of the people who spend day after day in the mountains.
