Description

The hike leads you into the quiet area of the Gornergrat, into its lesser-known hinterland. You pass the Kellensee, which serves as a reservoir for snowmaking in winter. Fewer and fewer people are encountered here, and with a bit of luck you may even spot chamois. The trail crosses patchy alpine meadows and, in the lower part of the Ritzigrat, reaches terrain scattered with stones and rocks – perhaps freeriders will remember leaving their tracks here in untouched winter snow.
  • Wildlife observation: possible
  • Alpine flora: interesting plants, including edelweiss

The Path of Silence leads from the Gornergrat to the Grünsee. From the Grünsee, you can continue either towards Sunnegga or to Riffelalp. The trails are well marked and easy to follow.
