Description

In these alpine meadows, the color splendor of the flora knows no bounds. Spring gentians shine blue, soon followed by various anemone species, including the very rare Haller anemone (pulsatilla halleri) typical for Zermatt. Later, edelweiss appear. Exclusively here: they can be comfortably viewed at eye level – after crossing the Trift creek, after a few hundred meters.

Because so many different flowers bloom, the diversity of insects and butterflies is also enormous. Among them the endangered star: the Apollo butterfly (strictly protected).

  • Special feature: small raised bogs that lie on steep slopes (botanical paradox)
  • In the raised bogs: orchid species
  • Right next door, in the dry area: edelweiss
  • Suitable for children from 8 years old
  • Ibex colony in the area around Pension Edelweiss / Alterhaupt
  • Information boards in German, English, French, Japanese
