Matterhorn Valley Trail (T1)

The Matterhorn Gotthard Railway is a constant companion on the route and can be used at the various stations to shorten the route.

The route can also be cycled in the opposite direction from Visp to Zermatt, which increases the physical requirements and the duration. (Duration approx. 4.5 h)

• Technically flawless bike
• Helmet, protective gear, gloves, and trail bell
• Patch kit, spare tube, and mini tool
• Weather-appropriate clothing (always carry rain protection)
• Drink and food supplies
• First aid kit

A lengthy stay at Lake Schali is recommended: there you will find the Bike Zone, water skiing facility, snack bar, and picnic or barbecue area

• Wearing gloves and a helmet is recommended because smart heads protect themselves.
• Use only the marked bike paths and roads and follow the signage. Please close gates and fences behind you.
• Be considerate of hikers as well as plants and animals. Hikers generally have the right of way.
• Judge your own abilities and fitness well, because some routes lead up to 3,000 meters.
• Riding on the different routes is generally at your own risk.

The skill requirements are moderate on 90% of the route. Less experienced riders are recommended to push the bike on the more difficult sections.
