Zermatt celebrates Swiss National Day on 31 July and 1 August with a varied programme for young and old alike. Against the spectacular backdrop of the Matterhorn, traditional celebrations await you at Leisee, including the official speech by Fabian Unteregger. The programme is complemented by a varied range of family activities and numerous live concerts. The popular street party on Bahnhofstrasse also creates a festive atmosphere in the village centre.

The easiest way to reach Leisee is by taking the Sunnegga funicular. Alternatively, the lake can also be reached on foot via several hiking trails.

Yes. With a children's concert, Wolli activities, a colouring competition and other family-friendly attractions, there is something for all ages.

The street festival takes place on Bahnhofstrasse in the centre of Zermatt and is one of the highlights of the National Day weekend.

The programme generally takes place even in unsettled weather conditions. Any changes will be communicated on site.

Yes. Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn operates an additional train service from Zermatt to Brig on 31 July. Departure is at 11:20 pm, making it easy to travel home after the celebrations.
