In the picturesque mountains surrounding Zermatt, a delightful creation was born that not only delights the palate but also pays homage to the iconic Matterhorn 🏔️: the Matterhörnli by Bäckerei Fuchs AG. 🍫

The idea was conceived by Pius Fuchs, the founder of the bakery, in the early 1990s. Since then, these pralines have been carefully handcrafted, with the aim of capturing the uniqueness of the Matterhorn in every single piece.

Two seasonal variations

The Matterhörnli are available in two seasonal variations:

In summer, they are made with milk, gianduja and ruby chocolate and filled with a fruity raspberry center.
In winter, they feature milk, gianduja and Maracaibo chocolate with a rich gianduja filling.

The packaging options are just as diverse as the flavors: whether as a single piece or in boxes of 5, 10, 15 or even 96 pieces, there is something for every taste and occasion. Each package is carefully folded by hand, and every Matterhörnli is individually wrapped with great care.

Chocolate craftsmanship in every detail

🍫 The production of Matterhörnli is a meticulous, multi-step process that reflects true craftsmanship:

Step 1: With skilled hands, white chocolate is pressed into the mold to recreate the snow-covered look of the Matterhorn, turning each piece into a small work of art.

Step 2: The mold is then coated with a layer of brown or dark chocolate, forming the “shell,” which must harden carefully to achieve the perfect structure.

Step 3: Using a piping bag, the filling—either gianduja or fruity raspberry—is precisely injected into each Matterhörnli. 🏔️

Step 4: A layer of milk chocolate is then added and carefully smoothed to ensure a flawless finish and consistent quality.

Step 5: Once fully set, the pralines are gently removed from the molds, ensuring that every detail remains intact.

Step 6: In the final stage, each Matterhörnli is individually hand-wrapped, labeled and prepared with the utmost care to preserve its quality until the very last bite. 🍫
