Schweifinen via ferrata - Route C

Ascent: From Zermatt station along Bahnhofstrasse. Shortly after the Zermatters’ office, the hiking trail to Edelweiss and Trift branches off to the right. Follow it upwards, out of the village and towards the Trift Gorge. Before the path crosses the bridge over the Triftbach, the path to the via ferrata entrance branches off to the right (approx. 30 minutes).

Descent: At the exit of route C, follow the hiking trail north, which loops back to Zermatt. (approx. 1h 15)

Our recommendation:

• Good, suitable footwear
• Clothing appropriate to the weather
• Climbing harness, helmet and via ferrata set
• Drink and food

Important! Recommended: freedom from dizziness, surefootedness, mountain experience

A highlight along the way is the wooden bench, where you can take a short break and let your gaze wander over the village.

• Carefully plan the route and adapt it to your own conditions, the weather and the season. Do not enter the via ferrata if there is a risk of thunderstorm.
• Use complete and standard-compliant equipment.
• Assess your own ability well.
• The via ferrata can also be done with a mountain guide.
• Maintain sufficient distance from other users.
• The abseiling point is only to be used with a mountain guide.

Important! Follow the route right to the end to the official hiking trail.
Observe the weather. A thunderstorm on a via ferrata with metal elements is a deadly danger.
