Hitting the number 1 spot in the German albums chart, pioneering Hamburg-based rapper Samy Deluxe has managed during his now extensive career to appeal once again to the masses with his ninth solo album Hochkultur 2. A work that was created during an abstinence from showbusiness and a period of introverted thoughtfulness, Samy pays homage here to those traditional values that remain close to his heart without losing track of the development of modern sound worlds. The artist released the album in 2023 to mark the 50th anniversary of the genre to which he has dedicated his entire artistic life: hip-hop. And he's thrilled to be translating this recent output into the tonal language of chamber music to fit the intimate setting of Zermatt Unplugged. And Mikis Takeover Ensemble, Samy Deluxe's accompaniment for his sojourn into the mountains, has got this language well and truly mastered!
