NostalChic Class is a special offer on the Gornergrat: a historic carriage, a finely tailored programme and personal accompaniment by our concierge. What at first appears to be a classic panoramic trip develops its own effect along the way.
Your special day begins in Zermatt—stylish and steeped in history. Our concierge warmly welcomes you to the charming Edward’s Bar-Café in the traditional Hotel Monte Rosa. Over a sparkling apéritif with regional white wine or a perfectly prepared cappuccino, you immerse yourself in the atmosphere of bygone times. This is not an ordinary outing, but an experience with heart.
Before the train sets off, your concierge will take you on a short, exclusive tour of Zermatt. With charm and insider knowledge, he tells stories that only those in the know would be aware of. Discover anecdotes from ancient times, hidden corners and special people – a walk that will make you feel the history of the place.
Then it’s time to climb aboard, lean back, set off. As soon as you step inside the historic carriage from 1961, you will feel the charm of days gone by. Soft colours, comfortable rows of seats and the gentle movement of the train create a special atmosphere. You take a seat at the window, the view opens up, and as Zermatt is slowly left behind you, the feeling of being on the move and yet completely at home spreads through you.
A constantly changing panorama passes by in front of the window: snow-covered forests, luminous peaks, a clear sky. The train gains altitude, the rails hum. An exclusive stopover offers the opportunity to take a photo. At the top of the Gornergrat at 3,089 metres, time seems to stop briefly: the Gorner Glacier shimmers, the four-thousand-metre peaks of Valais stand resolutely in the landscape, and a rich blue stretches above them.
After returning to the Riffelalp, the next highlight awaits you: a four-course meal at the renowned Ristorante Al Bosco. Inspired by Swiss cuisine, prepared using regional ingredients and accompanied by exquisite wines. Enjoyment and views merge into an experience for all the senses.
Refreshed and fulfilled, it’s back to Zermatt. As the train travels leisurely down the valley, the impressions of the day pass by once again: the friendliness of the concierge, the scent of the wood in the carriage, the view of the mountains. By way of farewell, you will receive a special souvenir, a memento to take home with you, a symbol of a day that will linger in your memory.

Cancellations on the part of the Gornergrat Railway due to force majeure (strong winds, avalanche danger, etc.) cannot be ruled out.
If you book this offer, the General Terms and Conditions of Contract and Travel GTC of Zermatt Tourism and, in addition, the General Terms and Conditions of the Gornergrat Bahn apply. In the event of contradictions between the following provisions and the general terms and conditions of the service partner, the general terms and conditions of Zermatt Tourism shall take precedence.

- If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, please let us know. Just send a short email with your booking number to railcenter@gornergrat.ch.
- The NostalChic Class experience lasts around six hours (10 am – 4 pm). The meeting point is at 10.00 am at Edward’s Bar-Café at Hotel Monte Rosa.
- The experience takes place as a group event, during which you will be seated with other guests for the aperitif and lunch.
- Slip-resistant shoes for short hikes and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended.
- The NostalChic Class offer is not barrier-free.
- Due to the altitude (3,100 meters above sea level), it is generally not recommended to bring babies and toddlers on the Gornergrat excursion. Children under 2 years old can be taken along free of charge upon request, provided they do not require their own seat and eat from the parents'/accompanying persons' plate.
