When the Norwegian duo Kings of Convenience released their debut album Quiet Is the New Loud in 2001, it offered a refreshing contrast to a decade previously characterized by rather rough and thunderous music. Erik Glambek Bøe and Erlend Øye crafted melodies on their acoustic guitars that were both subtle and elegant, with the gentle and perfectly harmonized voices of the former school friends only adding to the allure. It not only climbed to number 1 on the Norwegian Albums Chart, but also became the signature album of a new generation. Following their success on the American Billboard Independent Chart, Kings of Convenience went on to captivate audiences worldwide. They continued to produce a series of albums while maintaining an understanding of the value of taking their time; as timeless as their music is, musicians inevitably grow and evolve. After Canadian artist Feist provided crucial input for songs on their latest album, Peace or Love finally took form after 12 years. And the tracks on it are imbued with an incessant charm.
