Description

The Rothornhütte at the foot of the Zinalrothorn, newly opened in June 2024, is the starting point for many attractive climbing mountains: Zinalrothorn, Obergabelhorn, Wellenkuppe, Trifthorn, Aeschhorn. After the Viehboden area, you leave the gently green alpine world and enter the fascinating world of the former glacier landscape, with stone, rock, ice, and eternal snow. A look into the sky could be rewarding here: a pair of eagles circles above.

  • rich wildlife area with chamois
  • eagles in the area
  • alpine flora: alpine toadflax, occasionally visible as orange-violet specks in the scree terrain
  • The hut was newly built and opened in summer 2024. The new hut aims to meet the needs of alpinists and mountain hikers and to be both aesthetically and ecologically appealing.
