30 years of Stoked Zermatt - A reason to celebrate!

Stoked was founded in 1994 by the brothers Christian, Jürg and Michael Meier, who originally came to Zermatt to work as snowboard instructors. However, a decision by the Swiss Ski School Zermatt not to employ non-patented snowboard instructors presented them with a challenge. Christian Meier, the ‘Grüezini’ from the canton of Aargau, then decided to set up his own school - and so Stoked was born. Initially, the brothers were not welcome in the canton of Valais with their private snowboard school. But with perseverance and passion, the Meier brothers managed to carve out a permanent place for themselves in Zermatt. Stoked eventually established itself as the first private snowboard school in the canton of Valais - a milestone that laid the foundation for its later success. In 1999, Stoked expanded its offering to include ski courses and guiding, which broadened the school's base and helped it to grow further. From the very beginning, Stoked was characterised by a deep passion for winter sports and an uncompromising commitment to quality. Snowboarding and skiing, a love for the mountains and freedom are deeply rooted in the DNA of every Stokie. These values, coupled with the founders' many years of experience, have made the snow sports school an integral part of the destination of Zermatt. Today, 30 years after it was founded with great determination and enthusiasm, Stoked is a recognised performance partner in Zermatt for excellence and a reliable partner in snow sports as well as in the areas of Stoked Experience, event management and Stoked Boot Fitting.
