AND THE WINNER IS... Zermatt-Matterhorn! Our destination wins the BLICK Winter Awards 2023/24 in the Ski & Snowboard category. What a wonderful recognition! It fills the Zermatt-Matterhorn destination with joy and pride to be at the top of this prestigious category. In the middle of the current winter season, the award is an incentive and motivation to continue to give our best every day.
The Blick Winter Awards are a prize-giving ceremony for 73 different winter sports destinations from all over Switzerland, divided into six different categories: Ski & Snowboard, Cross-Country, Small and Fine, Leisure and Fun, Family, Action & Snowparks. Each destination was allowed to compete in two categories. Zermatt did so in the categories Action & Snowparks and Ski & Snowboard.
A total of 62,000 votes were cast and, in addition to the public vote, this year for the first time a jury of representatives from the participating winter sports destinations helped decide who would win.
Selina Döringer, Head of Marketing at Zermatt Tourism, says: "We are overwhelmed and grateful for winning the Blick Winter Awards in the "Ski & Snowboard" category! This success is the reward for the day-to-day work of the entire destination for winter sports. A big thank you to everyone who voted for us. This support motivates us to continue creating unforgettable experiences in the snowy heights around the Matterhorn."
In the Ski & Snowboard category, we were simply looking for the best ski resort for skiing and snowboarding. Where can you find rapid steep slopes, mogul pistes or wide pistes for carving? Value for money, snow reliability and a modern and safe infrastructure played an important role in this category.
After the Zermatt-Matterhorn destination won the Blick Winter Award 2022/2023 in the catering category for the 2022/23 season, it has now received another fantastic award. The two awards illustrate that Zermatt-Matterhorn is excellently positioned in several areas.
The ski and snowboard offer plays a key role in the Zermatt-Matterhorn destination. Zermatt-Matterhorn is the highest ski resort in Europe, offering its guests 360 kilometres of perfectly groomed pistes and cross-border fun on the slopes.
For first place in the "Ski & Snowboard" category, Blick is rewarding Zermatt Tourism with a sum of 85,000 francs. This may and will be used for advertising purposes in the Blick daily newspaper.
