During summer, Elsie’s remains a place of timeless character. For more than sixty years, the small bar and restaurant at Kirchplatz in Zermatt welcomes guests with a distinctive atmosphere shaped by consistency, quality and attention to detail. Throughout the warmer months, Elsie’s continues this tradition while further developing its culinary offering.
The kitchen is open daily from 12:00 to 8:00 pm, introducing fresh à la carte dishes for lunch and afternoon service. Light, seasonal creations complement the well-known classics of the house. Signature dishes such as snails with homemade herb butter, Elsie’s lobster spaghetti and homemade foie gras terrine remain part of the menu and are joined by summer-inspired plates. Highlights include Alpine pike-perch ceviche with lime, passion fruit and coriander, as well as Valais apricot hummus served with house-baked bread.
The wine and champagne selection continues to form the heart of Elsie’s. Carefully curated, it accompanies the summer day with ease – from a rosé in the afternoon sun to a full-bodied red wine in the evening. The terrace at Kirchplatz offers one of Zermatt’s most charming vantage points: village life passes by, the sun sets the pace, and time seems to slow down at Elsie’s. Indoors, the character of a historic house adds warmth and depth to the experience.
Even in summer, Elsie’s stands for enjoyment with a difference, for consistency, and for moments that will stay with you.
