The Event

The Gornergrat Zermatt Marathon is considered one of Europe's most scenic and demanding mountain marathons. From St. Niklaus via Zermatt to Riffelberg or even the Gornergrat at 3,089 metres above sea level, runners experience an unforgettable challenge with the Matterhorn as a constant companion. As an official Boston Qualifier, the event attracts participants from around the world. In 2026, the field is limited to 2,222 runners and the Swiss Runners Ticket is included in the entry fee.

Registration

Registration is available online via the official website. Participation is limited to a maximum of 2,222 runners, so early registration is strongly recommended. Late registrations for the Marathon and Ultra Marathon are possible on Thursday and Friday during race number collection in St. Niklaus (surcharge CHF 20).
