Schönbielhütte - 2694 m. – in the footsteps of pilgrims amd mule drivers

A warm welcome to the Schönbielhut. Surrounded by mighty mountains such as the Matterhorn, Dent Blanche or Obergabelhorn the refuge is a starting point to the classic and breathtaking tours such as the "Haute Route" or the "Tour du Ciel". As a hiking destination it lays at the end of the peaceful valley of Zmutt. You reach us in 2,5 h from Schwarzsee or in 4 h from Zermatt. It is an unforgettable hike along the north face of the Matterhorn. The hut is surrounded by green fields and lends itself perfectly as a place to stay for families.

Renovation of Schönbiel Hut – Important Information

Schönbiel Hut will be renovated in summer 2026. Between 20 June 2026 and 1 August 2026, the hut will remain open as usual, but there may be noise emissions, limited availability of certain areas, and adjustments to hut operations. Accommodation and meals will be provided, but comfort may be limited.

From 2 August 2026, the hut will be completely closed due to the renovation.

Seasonal cuisine in a alpine atmosphere. The host spoils his guests with culinary delights.
